Analyst-Safety Data Duties

Requirements I. Position Summary: The Analyst supports JetBlue Airways’ Office of Safety by recording, managing, and analyzing event and assessment safety data. In addition, the Analyst advises the Safety Department on Information Technology (IT) issues, acts as a liaison between IT and Safety, and manages Safety intranet sites. II. Essential Functions: • Manage (monitor, update, maintain, develop) the: o Safety event management, analysis, and distribution system o Safety intranet site o Internal Evolution Program data collection and analysis systems o Review, analyze, and evaluate information technology systems operations • Work with IT to develop and maintain safety data systems • Conduct analyses on safety events and audit data o Review accident/incident reports o Generate routine and special reports detailing analysis results o Perform special statistical studies • Work with safety Crewmembers to create presentations and reports • Develop and maintain safety metrics • Integrate information from other operating areas • Update and continually develop the intranet site and Newsletter, including layout, graphics, and content • Assist in task tracking and follow-up for Safety department investigations and assessments o Prepare requests for information involved with investigations • Work with manufactures/Federal Aviation Administration and industry on information sharing and data research projects • Create, develop, and implement cost capturing system • Assist with manual updates, prepare training and communications material, retain familiarity with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures • Supervise Interns III. Minimum Qualifications: • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma required , Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required • Aviation data management experience preferred but not required • Publishing or article writing experience a plus • Regular attendance is required • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Fun and Passion • Must be well groomed and maintain a professional appearance • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable Crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft IV. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Working knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) • Knowledge of Microsoft Mark-Up Languages (SGML, XML, HTML) • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, JavaScript, Macromedia Dreamweaver or Interdev or Equivalent, Macromedia Flash, a plus • Strong team building interpersonal skills • Demonstrated ability to acquire and present information through independent reading, interviews with subject-matter specialists, online research, or other appropriate methods • Working knowledge of regulations governing commercial aviation safety, security, environmental, and employee health and safety • Statistical abilities • Ability to work effectively with professionals from diverse technical areas • Ability to lead and direct the work of others V. Working Conditions: Equipment: • Computer and other office equipment Work Environment: • Normal office environment • Willingness to work long or flexible hours on an occasional basis Physical Effort: • Generally not required, or up to 10 pounds occasionally, 0 pounds frequently.
